This breathtaking editorial in the latest October 2009 issue of W magazine is indeed “a work of art”. Models Raquel Zimmermann and Freja Beha Erichsen star and pose of the always amazing photography duo Inez & Vinoodh, as they discover amazing contemporary art, suitably titled “Art and Commerce”, the editorial is indeed a brilliant display of fashion and art together.
Both Raquel and Freja gaze at everything from modern architecture, contemporary sculptures and pop-art paintings at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Featuring the work of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Franz West, Duane Hanson, Mel Ramos, David Smith, Ruth Francken, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Francois-Xavier Lalanne, Aristide Maillol, Sophie Calle and Frank Gehry, Chuck Close, Gilbert & George, Niki de Saint Phalle and Auguste Rodin.
The models are styled by Alex White, showcasing Freja as the androgynous masculine model, while Raquel being the gaudy one dressed in the finest of Fall fashion, ultrafemme dresses and beaucoup bijoux.
