For those of you whom, just like us, believe in classic heritage, craftsmanship and timeless style, the world of vintage fashion must certainly be no stranger. As you
might have read in my previous chronicle,
Atelier Mayer brings you all of the above, along with the convenience of sending the items right to your door. In fact this week has been a fascinating tour of fashion history for me as I have had the chance to discover the online store's latest additions, during their private preview on Saint James' Street in London.
Just see below for a series of exciting insights.

Yong's classic white dress at the centre above was part of a glamourous series in the main room, and it represents a symbolic part of the spirit of the store: "
being a star for the night". Moreover, it seems we are not the only ones saying it, as Vogue was photographing the dress that very morning. Yong Hei Fong is a special case on Atelier Mayer: a new London-based designer, he is championed on Vogue and is the 2002 winner of the American Express Innovation Award. Yong recreated exclusively for Atelier Mayer these three classic dresses -- of which just the names are already inspiring: the Artemis, Athena and Apollo dresses.
Certainly inspired by the stars, but also and to the greatest degree by the classics of fashion, the team brought to my attention a magnificent
Yves Saint Laurent Harlequin dress, dating back from the 1970s. The same model was coincidentally seen on Lily Allen recently in town.

Another unique find was the
Pierre Cardin cream floor length coat of the 1960s, which has been exhibited at the prestigious and fashion forward
Victoria & Albert Museum.

Also displayed was a
smoking jacket by Yves Saint Laurent, dating back to the 1970s -- a classic, which is part of the iconic tailored black silk suit 'le smoking'.
Vintage Christian Dior dresses from the 60s and the 80s (below) were a big highlight -- the latter is evidently alluding to the "excess 80s" when the motto of the moment was "if you got it, flaunt it".

Not limited to fashion, Atelier Mayer's stylish pop up exhibit also featured fantastic cuffs, vintage jewellery by the greatest labels including notably Christian Lacroix and Pierre Cardin, a preview of the store's fashion inspired
Flower Atelier, and custom design furniture pieces made with gorgeous vintage fabrics by Jess Graham Vintage Designs. All available on A.M.'s online site.

Last but not least, I had the pleasure of discovering the world of the new Italian brand
Rosamosario through its creator Carlotta Danti, and certainly look forward to sharing more on the label, which has already been featured in an array of key publications.

Vintage clothing, which essentially consists of recycled luxury collectibles, is also by nature environmentally friendly - making it all even more relevant to our changing times. And for those who might wonder about each article's past, they are in absolutely perfect state! Refer to each item's Style Sheet, meticulously written by "K. Mayer". And if you ever wonder more, well, a
feng shui label is adorned to all pieces, ensuring positive energies are at the essence -- and yes we do take the word for it fully.
