Today is a sad day indeed; the world is still in shock. The terrible and extremely devastating news of Alexander McQueen’s suicide has not been digested yet. The fashion world did not just lose a fashion designer, but in fact the whole world lost an artist.
The brilliance of McQueen will never be outshined. A true artist, one who can never be duplicated.
Days before his suicide, his dear mother, whom McQueen was very close to, passed away. Based on his Twitter account, he was having a very difficult time. Isabella Blow, who discovered and supported McQueen also committed suicide in 2007, McQueen was very close to her. The circumstances surrounding his death are dreadful; one can’t imagine the demons he was wrestling with. We hope he is resting in peace now.
Just as the world was getting used to Michael Jackson not being around, we are hit by this dreadful loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends, and his incredible design team.
I have always said: “Alexander McQueen doesn’t make clothes, he makes art, art you can wear”.
