Chivalry Expert Olivier Bassil Selects Venezuela’s Javier Rey to “Live With Chivalry in Cannes” at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
London, UK – Chivas Regal, Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival, today announced Javier Rey of Caracas, Venezuela, as the winner of the worldwide search for the most compelling story of modern chivalry.
Sharing its movement to “bring Chivalry back to the 63rd Cannes Film Festival” in May, the world’s first luxury whisky created an innovative “Chivalry Badge” Facebook application.
The application allowed friends to pay homage to their most chivalrous friends and in turn put them in the running to win an unforgettable 24-hour red carpet VIP pass to the world’s most exclusive film festival – the 64th Cannes Film Festival, 2011.
Nominated by friend Luis Javier Pisonero for his noble character, Rey received his Chivalry Badge for the importance he places in simple and everyday acts of gallantry.
“Javier knows that he can (and will) makes the world a better place through his simple and genuine acts of chivalry; he couldn’t live any other way,” said Pisonero.
Rey lists simple things such as showing courtesy to strangers, looking people in the eye and holding doors open for both women and men, as ways of living a chivalrous life.
The winning selection was made by Chivas’ official “Chivalry Expert”, Olivier Bassil, the international lifestyle blogger named as one of the top five influencers in global luxury by Forbes magazine, who reported live from Cannes on acts of Chivalry performed by the stars.
