Halston : one word is all it takes to identify America’s first “superstar” designer. If the address 33 East 68th Street means nothing to you, consider this: not only is it where Roy Halston opened his first namesake boutique, it was the first luxury shop to flaunt a designer’s own moniker. He started out as a milliner at Bergdorf Goodman (his design was the first hat to ever make it into Harper’s Bazaar), and from Jackie O ‘s pillbox hats he graduated to sexy disco dresses that summed up the decadent era of Studio 54.
