Charles Darwin wrote that the species with the best chances of survival are those that are most ready to adapt. Seen in this light, the prospects of success for the new Aquatimer Chronograph and the new Aquatimer Automatic from IWC Schaffhausen are very promising. Because compared with their predecessors, they have undergone a visible process of development; not only are they more elegant but also have considerably higher pressure-resistance.
In 1971, for his film “The Dragons of Galapagos”, the best-known pioneer of marine research, Jacques Cousteau, undertook an expedition to the remote islands in the Pacific. He not only succeeded in capturing sensational underwater footage of the Galapagos marine iguanas: he also learned much about the mysteries of their way of life
The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Expedition Charles Darwin” is a new chapter in IWC Schaffhausen’s ongoing history of modern, innovative diver’s watches. It is also the first time that the company has used bronze in a watch case: the metal alloy was one of the materials typically used in shipbuilding in the 19th century. This sporty timepiece pays homage to the renowned naturalist Charles Darwin, who gathered some of his fundamental insights into biodiversity on the Galapagos Islands

With the new Aquatimer Automatic 2000, IWC Schaffhausen upholds its tradition for timepieces with extremely high pressure-resistance. Its titanium case and reduced design are reminiscent of a model with iconic status: the Ocean 2000 created by Ferdinand A. Porsche in 1982.
The Aquatimer Deep Three is already the third generation of the IWC diver’s watches to feature a mechanical depth gauge. The continuous development of the depth gauge and rotating bezel system testifies to the Schaffhausen watch manufacturer’s resolve to further consolidate its technological advantage in complex mechanical solutions.
To mark the launch of the new Aquatimer collection, IWC Schaffhausen and around 800 guests from all over the world gathered at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie ( SIHH ) for a very special kind of evening.
Limited to just 50 watches, the Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month combines state-of-the-art technology with quality looks. Following the opening of the first Italian boutique in Rome in March of last year, IWC Schaffhausen is now putting down roots in Venice.
