Prada Fall/Winter 2010 Men Collection: “Retro Preppy”

I always start a post about Prada with “Miuccia Prada can do no wrong”, and this post is no exception. For the new men Fall/Winter 2010 collection, Prada took a nostalgic look back beyond the studs and studded leather, and visited a retro preppy look reminiscent of the 90s. With oversized knitwear (on trend for Fall/Winter 2010), tailored casual suits, various colors and forms of camouflage, shrunken sweaters which absolutely were Prada (and in contrast with Fall/Winter 2009), and double collared coats, peacoats (my favorite from the collection). Prada left the black and gray of winter and opted for optimistic coral, yellow, cobalt, pink and orange.

And the fantastic soundtrack was retro-blastic, featuring 90s House Music and Techno beats with Nirvana’s “Rape Me” and Shakespeares Sister’s “Stay”. A rumor went around that the 1970 film Love Story informed Miuccia’s inspiration, but she did not comment.
