Piaget, the pioneering Swiss watchmaker has recently added to their well-known Limelight collection by introducing Limelight Jazz Party – a mini collection of four luxurious new pieces themed around musical notes and the piano.
The first and most eye-catching piece is the Limelight Exceptional Secret watch, that appears to be a bracelet, but a secret door opens up to reveal a dial that tells time. A black dial and several encrusted diamonds give the appearance of the ebony and ivory colors of piano keys.
The second piece for ladies is the Limelight Exceptional watch, also following the black dial and diamond studded theme. The dial has a cover which slides open to reveal the time.
The Limelight Jazz Party watch for women features an elegant black dial within which lie spiraling diamonds, along with a diamond encrusted rim and black strap.
For men, the Limelight Jazz Party collection offers the bold Piaget Polo Tourbillion Jazz Party Record. The black dial boasts of a hand that is built like a gear train (the grooved wheel-and-pinion system), a mechanical hand-wound one minute flying tourbillon and uses the Manufacture Piaget caliber 608P movement.
The original Limelight collection was born in the 1990s along with other well-known Piaget collections such as the Possession, Tanagra and Miss Protocole ranges. These collections followed soon after the Richemont group took over Piaget Manufacture in 1988. Several pieces from the Limelight collection have been the recipients of awards and prizes for watchmaking as well as beauty of the watches.
The Piaget brand’s origin lies in the Swiss village of La Côte-aux-Fées, and began as Georges Piaget began manufacturing high-precision watch movements for other watch brands. When his grandsons took over the business in 1943, the Piaget brand began creating and selling their own lines. Made popular in the ’60s by celebrity patrons such as Jackie Kennedy and Andy Warhol, the Piaget brand became known for its use of lapis-lazuli, turquoise, onyx and tiger’s eye in watchmaking. This soon earned Piaget the status of “watchmaker-jeweler” after Yves Piaget took over as President in 1980.
Piaget owns the largest jewelry workshop in Geneva. All stones are cut, adjusted and set in the watches by hand, ensuring that all gems adhere to the brand’s high standards of color, clarity, size and carat and quality.
Aside from being aesthetically-pleasing, the brand has kept strong its heritage of watch movement manufacture and technical precision. It has constantly been improving and evolving in sophistication with the ultra-thin movement, tourbillion, tourbillion skeleton and more.
These latest pieces from the Limelight Jazz Party collection make perfect gifts for music lovers and party goers alike.
