Roy Lichtenstein: Still Lifes, at the Gagosian

While he is most famous for his pop art “Bang” and women with “thought bubbles”, for the first time ever, an entire exhibition is dedicated to Roy Lichetnstein’s still lifes series at New York’s Gagosian.

Being a major player in the pop art movement since it first began, Lichtenstein’s experiments with still life particularly began in early 1970s. With over 50 works on display, many of them take direct influence from print advertisements, creating confluence between the painters’ work in still life and his more popular pop art production.

“Roy Lichtenstein: Still Lifes” will run through June 30th, at Gagosian in New York, West 24th Street.
