Continuing with his simple and relaxed approach, Kris van Assche was inspired by the culture of Samurai, but in a most modern and luxurious way. For Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2011, the proportions were loose, billowing cuts, lightweight fabrics with sandals, and a beautiful fluidity in movement, I’ve always loved van Asshe’s creations while they’re moving. There was also and black and white monochrome, with the addition of variations of gray and oatmeal. Van Assche’s penchant for detail is most obvious, and always to the point. Expressing his love of simplicity, van Assche explained “less is more. Simplicity is the true luxury”.
