Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2011 Collection: “Maximalism”

The genius of Raf Simons is that he can take a simple idea and make it extravagant, in impact. This fantastic Spring/Summer collection for Jil Sander is a perfect example of that, as Simons pointed out; it is his reaction to “neo minimalism”, he decided to go “maximal” with bold colours of green, purple and magenta, and extraordinary 60s couture, “A mille-feuille of colour” said Simons. The collection featured contrasting ideas, from blocking bright colours with darker hues, and skin tight tops with voluminous shapes for bottoms, and vice versa, yet managing to keep the Jil Sander women look very clean and sleek as always.
