The brand of chic that only Belgian designer Dries van Noten knows how to make is evident in this stunning Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Inspired by the late Belgian artist Jef Verheyen and how he projected light into his paintings, Chinese ceramics, and gentlemen’s wardrobe. There were fascinating ombré effects, beautiful floral prints, soft colours, and oversized men’s blazers and tuxedo jackets, adding a clash of proportions only to enhance the van Noten chic. Dries van Noten has always been inspired by art and ethnic heritage, particularly modern tribalism, adding those elements to his superb tailoring. Another element (which is quite evident in many collections the past few seasons, until now), is late Yves Saint Laurent.
