Karl Lagerfeld, creative genius at Chanel (and Fendi, and his own labels, including Karl Lagerfeld), is dabbling in film once again. His latest mini-film for Chanel, features the stars of his previous films (see: Remember Now and La Lettre), models Magdalena Frackowiak and Baptiste Giabiconi, along with a new addition in the form of model Barbora Dvorakova. The film shows boutique mannequins – inside the store and in the window displays – coming to life, to the tunes of eerie music. It is a mini-lookbook for the new collection, showcasing Chanel products including apparel, eyewear, shoes, handbags, belts, jewelry, hats and gloves. The make-up on the models is quite immaculate. They actually look quite mannequin-esque in several shots in the film, particularly newcomer model Barbora Dvorakova. The film may not have a real story line, but it does a great job of keeping you intrigued enough to watch until the end to try and find out if there might be one. In the meantime, of course, you will be checking out the new Chanel mens’ and womenswear collections on the models and the mannequins, accomplishing quite well, the point of the lookbook.
