SQUA.RE Guide: Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Collections

The reasons we love haute couture shows is because it is a real excuse to get as flamboyant as our imagination could be. The Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011-2012 season was of feathers and frills hinting at a wilder side but subdued with a combination in some instances of contemporary elegance. From Gaultier’s gender-bending strict tailoring, here inspired by ballerinas and choreographers, Alexis Mabille’s Jean de La Fontaine fables inspired animals, and Iris van Herpen’s ambitious fancy, to the “purity, lightness, fragility” of Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy’s astonishing collection, Giorgio Armani’s modern homage to Japan and Giambattista Valli’s premier couture collection extraordinaire.
