“Every woman makes a difference to somebody”, Ms. Theresa Tan believes, as she was one of three women chosen to represent Singapore’s Woman of the Year recently, held by Singapore’s leading media group, MediaCorp. Ms. Tan surely is helping to making a difference, a breast cancer survivor herself, she joined forces with the esteemed Estée Lauder Companies in Singapore to set the night afire in shades of pink, all for the sake of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Theresa and her daughter led an emotionally sententious fashion show that showcased numerous breast cancer survivors and their loved ones strutting down the runway. The event was hosted by celebrity advocate Sharon Au, and the celebrated Japanese artist Takeshi Satoalso painted a remarkable artwork of the beloved Evelyn H. Lauder, honoring her life-long commitment to breast cancer awareness, and the grace and elegance she transpired.
Evelyn Lauder’s spirit, along with all of the women and men who have heroically travelled beyond in the face of the destroyer, infatuated the air and audience, as the ArtScience Museum transfigured into a pink so radiant, one could compare it with Heaven. Torch bearers engulfed with the essence of survival, hope, and faith, sprinted along the Helix Bridge, leaving in their tracks rosy lights that shed hope into the hearts of everyone watching, waiting in a trance.
This was a night that Singapore will never forget. As Ms. Theresa Tan once said, “Every woman makes a difference to somebody”. Theresa was right, and as all of humanity does make a great impact in the lives of others, we at SQUA.RE thank you, Evelyn H. Lauder, for making an enormous influence on all of us.
