B Hotel

B Hotel

The debut of the 306-room B Hotel in Brasília was always going to be something of a marquee event, if not homecoming, not least because Isay Weinfeld had been tapped for both the architecture and interiors.  Channelling a masterful command of minimalist textures and an unerring eye for the vanishing point, the Brazilian architect has created a rugged rectilinear block on the Eixo Monumental stretch, investing the sand-hued façade with an eye-catching sequence of irregularly spaced square-cut windows. Inside, he has furnished the modernist rooms and public spaces with handsome dark stained furniture, while the white walls are attractively dappled by shadows cast by traditional cobogó bricks. The rooftop bar and pool look over Brasília’s skyline and blazing sunsets, but equally distracting is the ground floor restaurant’s dalliance with organic vegetables harvested from the hotel’s own garden, native baru and pequi nuts, and cacao.§
